MaskOff guide

A safer call routine for real estate professionals

Unknown prospects are part of the job. A consistent process can make those first contacts easier to assess.

Before an appointment

Use your brokerage's identity-verification and check-in procedures for every new prospect. Verify contact details through an independent source when possible. Share the appointment address, time, and expected check-in with a colleague. Prefer a public or controlled meeting location for a first contact.

When a prospect calls privately

With MaskOff active, decline a No Caller ID or blocked call so the number can be identified. Review the result before returning the call and keep relevant call history or recordings, subject to consent laws. A phone number is useful context, but it is not proof of a person's identity.

After the interaction

Record unusual behavior while the details are fresh and preserve original messages. Follow brokerage escalation procedures when a contact becomes threatening or persistent. Contact emergency services if you believe anyone is in immediate danger.
